Box Score MELBOURNE, FLORIDA-- The Dallas Christian College Softball team suffered a 2-1 loss against University of Northwestern Ohio on Monday morning in the opening game of the USSSA Space Coast Spring Break Tournament.
The Lady Racers scored on error in the top of the first inning by first-baseman
Kaylee Brent. Stellar pitching by
Toni Meyer kept the deficit 1-0 for DCC heading into the bottom of the fourth inning.
Georgina Carillo led off the bottom of the fourth inning with a single up the middle, followed by a
Kaylee Brent single to give DCC runners on first and second base with no outs.
Lorelei Turner pinch hit and laid down a sac-bunt to move runners to 2nd and 3rd base with 1 out.
Jayla Stephens knotted the game up with an RBI,  ground out to the pitcher to score Carillo from third. The Lady Racers answered back with a RBI double to regain the lead 2-1. The Lady Crusaders were not able to score anymore runs and lost 2-1 in a pitchers duel.
Toni Meyer kept the Lady Crusaders in the game pitching 7 innings allowing 4 hits, 2 runs, 1 earned run, 2 walks, and 7 strikeouts in 28 batters faced. The Lady Crusaders will be back in action at 12:15 PM against Brewton-Parker University.
