SB NCCAA D1 Central Region Tournament Preview

FORT WORTH, TX-- Dallas Christian College Softball heads into the NCCAA Central Region Tournament as a dangerous, well-balanced team capable of making a deep run behind one of the most productive offenses in the field.

The Crusaders enter postseason play with a 17-19 record, but that mark doesn't fully reflect how explosive this lineup has been. As a team, Dallas Christian is hitting an outstanding .340 with a .497 slugging percentage, consistently putting pressure on opposing pitching staffs and creating scoring opportunities throughout the order.

At the top, Erin Thibault has been a tone-setter all season, batting .447 while combining contact, speed, and gap power. Kayla Looper has been equally impactful, hitting .408 with a team-high 10 home runs and 32 RBI, giving the Crusaders a true middle-of-the-order force. Georgina Carrillo (.383) and Kyleigh Lewis (.339) provide consistency and on-base ability, while Laila Robins adds extra-base pop and run production.

What makes Dallas Christian especially tough is its depth. Six regulars are hitting above .300, and the team has shown the ability to manufacture runs as well as hit for power, totaling 25 home runs and 65 doubles on the year. Their aggressiveness on the bases (71 stolen bases) adds another layer of pressure for opposing defenses.

In the circle, the Crusaders have been solid, posting a 5.03 team ERA. Nizhoni Yellow has handled a significant workload and will be a key piece in tournament play, while Toni Meyer and Jasmine Hernandez provide additional starting options. Looper has also contributed in the circle, showing versatility as both a hitter and pitcher.

Defensively, Dallas Christian has been steady with a .945 fielding percentage, and their ability to turn double plays and limit mistakes will be important in a tournament setting.

If there's a key for the Crusaders, it will be timely pitching to complement their offense. When they control games in the circle and avoid big innings, their lineup is more than capable of carrying them.

With a potent offense, experienced contributors, and multiple pitching options, Dallas Christian College enters the NCCAA Central Region Tournament as a team no opponent will want to face—one that has the firepower to put together a strong postseason run. The Crusaders will face Mission University on Friday afternoon at 10 a.m.
