Box Score 2 DALLAS, TX-- THe Dallas Christian College softball team competed against Texas Wesleyan in a doubleheader on Friday afternoon at Sycamore Park. The game started an hour later due to rain, nut that did not deter the teams from playing. The Crusaders dropped the first game by a score of 5-2 and won the second game with a stellar pitching performance by
Autumn Minyard.
Game 1: The Lady Crusaders played hard in the first game but were not able to overcome the two big innings by the Lady Rams. DCC scored a run in the fourth inning and the 7th inning, but was not able to put together a comeback. It was a solid outing on the mound for
Summer Hasfurter. The Junior Pitcher went 6 innings, allowing 5 runs on ten hits with 1 walk.
Lacey Bainbridge went 1 for 2 with a double and 2 runs scored. The Lady Crusaders played solid defense in a low-scoring pitching affair and would look to pick up a win in the back end of the doubleheader.
Game 2: In game two, the Lady Crusaders grasped the lead with a huge 2 run 6th inning against the Rams on Friday afternoon.
Rhionnon Weatherly drove in the first run with a fielder's choice to tie the game at 1.
Avery Tapia scored on a double steal and
Autumn Minyard sealed the deal in the final two innings of the game with solid pitching. She went 7 innings, allowing 5 hits, 1 run, 1 walk, and recorded 2 strikeouts.
Lacey Bainbridge went 2 for 4 with 2 singles. She was 4 for 6 on the day with a double, 3 singles, and 2 runs scored. The Lady Crusaders beat Texas Wesleyan for the first time in program history and will look to continue momentum into tomorrow as they travel to Arkansas to face Ecclesia.Â
