KEENE, Texas – The Dallas Christian College men's basketball team announced its road game at Southwestern Adventist University on Saturday, February 5, has been rescheduled for the following week, Feb. 12, at 7 p.m.
The game had originally been slated for 9 p.m. after the women's basketball game, but a decision was made to reschedule the contest earlier in the day and on a date both teams happen to have off.
The women's game between DCC and Southwestern Adventist is still scheduled for 7 p.m. tonight.
The Crusaders men's basketball team prevailed, 76-65, at home earlier this week on Tuesday versus Randall University. The Crusaders improved to 3-11 overall and 3-3 against NCCAA Division II teams. This includes the past two in a row. DCC is 2-1 since the calendar year flipped to 2022 with the lone setback being to No. 2 Arlington Baptist University, which was tight until the final minutes.
In the game versus Randall on Tuesday,
Tilyr Hobson recorded a double-double with game-highs in points (22) and rebounds (11).
Micah Tucker contributed a personal-best 15 points off the bench and
Tyjuan Battles had 11. The duo each had three-made treys.
Jairus Allen tossed in 10 points to round out the double-digit performers and dished a team-high five assists.
Joseph Allen had a couple of blocks to extend his overall streak to 16, including exhibition games with NCAA Division I foes Tarleton State University, Northwestern State University, and Texas A&M University.
Dallas Christian is back on the court this Tuesday, Feb. 8, with Southwestern Adventist in the first of back-to-back matchups. The Crusaders have gone 6-3 in the past nine meetings dating to November 16, 2017. The Crusaders won 88-63 and 90-70 in the regular season in 2020-21, taking a game at each home site. The Knights picked up a win in the crucial play-in game for the final Southwest Regional Tournament with three last second free throws to win by a point.
Southwestern Adventist University has been tough this season with a 10-7 record and 3-1 mark against divisional teams in the region. The Knights have picked up two of their four wins away from home at DCC's home gym as part of the DCC New Year's Classic. They earned wins over Baptist Bible College in overtime and College of the Ozarks, who are both NCCAA Division I teams. The Knights also have a home win with Arlington Baptist and split head-to-head.
These next couple of weeks will be crucial for determining the South Division part of the Regional Tournament. The Crusaders have two games with the Knights and one away game each with Arlington Baptist and Randall. DCC's last home game will be against Champion Christian College on Feb. 17, which will be another chance at a top 10 ranked team in the NCCAA.
