KEENE, Texas – The Dallas Christian College women's basketball team travels to Southwestern Adventist University for the Knights Invitational basketball tournament during MLK Weekend. The Crusaders will play on Sunday, January 16 at 12 p.m. and Monday, January 17 at 12 p.m.

No. 9 DCC enters with a 12-4 overall record and are coming off a 71-54 setback to NCCAA Division I Baptist Bible College. The Crusaders did defeat Southwest Christian College, 64-46, earlier that week to give the team a 1-1 mark in the 2022 part of the season.
The Crusaders are averaging 72.4 points-per-game and have allowed 59.8 for a 12.6 scoring margin average. DCC is shooting 36.5 percent overall and have made 89 three-pointers. DCC also gets after it on the glass, averaging 50.7 rebounds per game and have a positive 6.8 margin. The team also plays locked down defense, forcing 185 steals and 50 blocked shots, which both are more than its opposition.
Amber Covington was a standout last time out in a setback with a season-best 19 points to go with 13 rebounds for a double-double. It was her second most rebounds in a game this campaign for the second time. She checks in second on the team with 158 points and is averaging 9.9. The junior forward is also the leader on the team in rebounding with 124 (7.8 average), which includes 58 offensive rebounds.
Keiarra Rivers has been the leading scorer with 11.2 points-per-game and 196 points total.
Mckayla Washington rounds out the top trio of scorers with 137 (8.6).
Taylor Brokenberry and
Faith Salinas recently entered triple-digits in scoring totals on the season with 109 and 107, respectively.
Leia Twine and Washington remain the top pair for three-point shooting, with 15 and 12 made ones, respectively. DCC does like to share the ball as well, with a quartet that have eclipsed 30. Washington leads as the point guard with 44. Covington has dished 34, while
Courtnee Locke is right behind at 33. Rivers rounds out the group with 30. There are nine total Crusaders that have surpassed double figures, with eight on the active roster.
It will be a busy schedule for the Crusaders after this pair of games, with a home meeting with Arlington Baptist University. That will be a regional matchup and tips at 5:30 p.m. DCC Gray will host UA Cossatot on Wednesday at 5 p.m. and then head out the following weekend to Ecclesia College and Ozark Christian College.
