Box Score SPRINGDALE, Ark. – The No. 5 Seed Dallas Christian College fell 9-2 against No. 2 Seed Kansas Christian College on Tuesday morning in an elimination game of the NCCAA Independent Regional. The setback concludes the season for the Crusaders, who won 11-of-17 games since April 2.
Batting as the visitors, the Falcons unleashed their offense with five runs in the first two innings and were in control most of the way. With one out, CL Stacker and Stay' Jawn Hunter homered and the duo combined for five RBI. Kris Davis also had a two-RBI game, while going 2-for-3 with two runs scored.
The Crusaders got on the board with a home run by Cooper Ness, his second of the tournament, in the second inning. KCC pushed out to an 8-1 advantage with three more runs in the fourth.
Brandon Andrews doubled in the other DCC run in the sixth and was the other extra-base hit. The Crusaders were only out-hit by one (8-7), but the Falcons ripped a trio of home runs in the win. Another notable performance for the Crusaders was a 2-for-3 game and run scored by Cade Croysdale.
Trever Smith was saddled with the loss by going three innings and allowing seven runs on as many hits. He struck out four. Casey Morrow threw two innings, while seniors Anthony Esposito and Ian Nash each had a frame on the bump. The pair each registered two strikeouts to give the staff eight in the game.
Cole Henley tossed a complete game with six strikeouts. He allowed two runs, one earned, on seven hits and walked three.
Both setbacks for the Crusaders in the regional were to the number 6 and 5 teams in the NCCAA. DCC did pick up wins against both foes in the regular season on the road, splitting at KCC and dropping three-of-four at Ecclesia. Although two losses were determined by a run.
