Box Score 2 FARMERS BRANCH, Texas – The Dallas Christian College baseball team hosted Champion Christian College this past Saturday for a doubleheader. The teams split on the day with Champion taking game one, 8-1, and the Crusaders winning game two, 3-0.
In the first game, the Tigers grabbed a big lead with a pair of three-run innings in the first and fourth innings. The Crusaders were held to three hits and scored a run in the fifth on a passed ball to avoid a shutout. Anthony Esposito and Trever Smith combined to go seven innings and were victims of a defense that committed four errors, as only one-of-eight runs were charged earned.
DCC claimed the second game of the day with a three-run shutout, scoring a run in each of the first three innings. Brandon Andrews got the Crusaders on the board with a home run to center field. Carlos Torres doubled to right field and scored Adriel Davila for the second run in the second inning. Stefon Reyes completed the scoring on the day in the next inning with a long ball to right field.
Torres led the top of the lineup with a 3-for-4 overall. Reyes and Alex Westman contributed 2-for-3 performances. A trio of DCC pitchers combined to throw the team's second shutout of the season and second in as many series. Collin Patten got the start and threw three innings. Ryan Bailey picked up the win and threw the next three innings. Davila earned the save with a scoreless seventh. The trio combined for five strikeouts.
Dallas Christian improved to 14-33-1 on the season and has gone 8-2 in the month of April.
The Crusaders play next on the road at Kansas Christian College on Apr. 23-24.
