Box Score 2 OKLAHOMA CITY – The Dallas Christian College baseball team snapped a 12-game slide on Wednesday with a win in game one of a double-header at Mid-America Christian University. The Crusaders pitching staff had four arms combine for 15 strikeouts.
Both team's scratched a run across in the first inning, but the Crusaders would strike for three runs in the third to go up for good the rest of the game. A walk to Nate Vasquez scored Ricky Esqueda for the go-ahead run. Cade Croysdale drove in a run with the bases loaded by being hit by a pitch. Sam Marvin tallied the third run when he came home on a single to shallow center by Curtis Morgan III.
Mid-America Christian came back with a run in the fifth and sixth, but DCC provided two insurance runs off the bats of Alex Westman and Adriel Davila. Both hits went to left field and the lead stretched to 6-3, which ended as the final score.
Carlos Torres had a good day with a 3-for-5 showing at the plate and scored two runs to match a game-high. Davila drove in two runs and Vasquez pounded the lone DCC extra base hit with a double. '
Ryan Bailey earned the start and went two innings. He allowed a run on three hits, struck out four and walked none. Payton Todd nearly duplicated the line, but had more strikeouts with six. Aaron Trujillo allowed a run in one inning and added a strikeout to the staff's great performance. Andrew Torrez completed the save with two shutout frames of just a walk given up. There were no walks and Torrez fanned four.
Dallas Christian fell in the second game in the road doubleheader. These teams meet for a third series this season and second time in Texas this Friday and Saturday. Only one game is scheduled for Friday at 1 p.m. The twinbill on Saturday is slated for a 1 p.m. start.
