Box Score 4 FARMERS BRANCH, Texas – Dallas Christian baseball started the 2021 season last weekend with a four-game series versus Central Christian College. After splitting opening day with a 15-5 setback and 12-1 victory, the Crusaders offense erupted with 29 runs on Saturday with a 20-7 win and 9-9 tie.
(Game 1: Central Christian 15, Dallas Christian 5) (F/7)
The Crusaders plated all five runs in the fifth inning. Casey Morrow lifted a two-run homer that just cleared the short left field tall wall. Stefon Reyes added a triple in the right field corner for the other RBI extra base hit. Anthony Esposito and Payton Todd recorded three strikeouts in two innings of work.
(Game 2: Central Christian 1, Dallas Christian 12) (F/6)
Dallas Christian tallied a run each inning and started with an explosive first inning to make it 7-0. Nine different players contributed to the 13 hits. A quartet of them were two-hit performers: Brandon Andrews, Reyes, Cooper Ness, and Nate Vasquez, both of which his were doubles. Adriel Davila had a game-high three RBI and joined Andrews with a home run apiece. Reyes tripled for the second time on the day with one per game. Ian
Nash fanned five batters for all-but one out. Ryan Bailey went the last four innings and only allowed a run on four hits and a walk. He struck out three.
(Game 3: Central Christian 7, Dallas Christian 20) (F/7)
It was another game that the Crusaders tallied a run in each frame. An eight-run second pushed the game out of reach quickly. Josh Freeman went 3-for-3 with a double and home run, drove in six runs and scored four times. He also walked twice. Andrews was the other extra base hit for DCC with a two-bagger. The centerfielder went 2-for-3 with two RBI and three runs scored.
Davila struck out 10 batters and allowed two earned runs on six hits through six innings.
(Game 4: Central Christian 9, Dallas Christian 9) (F/7)
This was back-and-forth as the Tigers plated six runs in two innings to start the final contest. Cade Croysdale homered for DCC in the third and was one of two runs that inning. The Crusaders traded leads with a six-run fourth. Croysdal started the fourth with an RBI double to right field. Justin Turner followed with a single to left field. Freeman added a ribbie with a sacrifice fly. Singles by Andrews and Reyes helped get the home team the lead. A passed ball scored Reyes to wrap up the 9-7 edge. The Tigers got two runs in the fifth and the game was called due to no lights.
Dallas Christian will host Central Baptist and Mid-America Christian on February 5-6. Both days will have timeslots at 9:30 a.m., 12:00 p.m., and 2:30 p.m. Full schedule can be found on dccsports.com.
