FORT WORTH, TX-- The Dallas Christian College Men's Basketball team (0-1) opened up its season with a hard fought 87-80 loss on the road against Texas Wesleyan University (1-0) at Sid Richardson Center on Thursday night.
In the first half the Crusaders shot 13-28 (46%) from the field, 6-14 (42%) from the 3 point line, and 8-10 (80%) from the free-throw line. DCC competed hard and put itself in position to win the game in the second half, only facing an 8 point deficit at the halftime break.
DCC kept responding in the second half to stay close, ultimately the Rams held on to an 87-80 win to start their season. For the game DCC shot 29-66 (43.9%) from the field, 14-33 (42%) from the three-point line, and 8-11 (72%) from the free-throw line.
DCC had 13 second chance points, 22 points in the paint, 16 points off turnovers, and 29 bench points.
Ny'gel Boozer led all scorers with 22 points, 3 assists, and 2 rebounds.
Grayson Bell notched 18 points on 6-10 shooting from the three-point line.
Carlas Canady had a near double-double off the bench with 10 points and 9 rebounds, and
Terius Maxie was the fourth Crusader in double digit points with 10. The Crusaders will open up at home against UNT-Dallas at 3 PM on Saturday afternoon.
