DALLAS, TX-- The Dallas Christian College softball team hosted Crowley's Ridge in and double-header on Saturday afternoon at Oran Good Park. The Lady Crusaders fought hard in both games, but suffered a 4-3 loss and a 6-0 loss.
Game 1: The Lady Crusaders battled tough in a low-scoring game where runs came at a minimum. Bailey Cupples blasted a home-run to center-field to break the tie in the top of the second inning and give the Pioneers a 1-0 lead. DCC grasped the lead in the bottom of the third inning with a three-run homerun by
Lacey Bainbridge. Crowley's Ridge answered back in the top of the fourth inning with 2 runs scoring to tie the game at 3. The Pioneers scored the game-deciding run in the top of the inning on an RBI single.
Lacey Bainbridge went 2 for 3 at the plate with a homerun, 1 run scored, and 3 RBI's.
Hanna Roye went 2 for 4 with 2 singles and a run scored.
Summer Hasfurter pitched 5.1 innings, allowing 5 hits, 4 runs, 5 walks, and recorded 3 strikeouts.
Katherine Hanks was solid in relief going 1.2 innings, and allowing no runs. Although DCC suffered a 4-3 loss, the Lady Crusaders battled until the end and almost put together a comeback.
Game 2: The Lady Crusaders were led by
Autumn Minyard putting together a solid performance on the mound. Minyard went innings allowing 6 runs, 11 hits, 6 walks, and recorded 5 strikeouts. THe Lady Crusaders made solid contact all game long, but were not able to score any runs.
Summer Hasfurter and
Lacey Bainbridge went 3 for 4 and
Kelley Taff went 2 for 2 with 2 singles. The Lady Crusaders enede up losing 6-0, but had the bases loaded in the bottom of the 7th inning and threatened to score runs.
Jayda Justice laced a ball to deep-center-field that was snatched by Dru Bryant to end the game. The Lady Crusaders will be back at it on Wed. Apr. 12 at 6 p.m. against University of Texas at Dallas.
