The Comets of UT Dallas carried an 8 game winning streak and an 18-7 overall record heading into the matchup on Tuesday night. The Lady Crusaders jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the top of the second inning after
Kaylee Castillo picked up an RBI after grounding out to first base.
Summer Hasfurter gave DCC 2 strong innings to start the game, only allowing 1 hit and no runs in 7 batters faced. In the third inning the Lady Crusaders increased the lead to 3-0 after an RBI single by
Kaylee Brent and a sacrifice-fly by

The Comets answered with 2 runs in the bottom of the third inning after a homerun by Avery Taylor and an RBI single by Claire Pollack.
Autumn Minyard pitched three solid innings, allowing 5 hits, 2 runs, and recorded 1 strikeout in 15 batters faced.
Kaylee Brent blasted a homerun over the center-field wall in the top of the sixth inning to provide insurance runs to give the Lady Crusaders a 5-2 lead heading into the bottom of the sixth inning.
The Comets did not go down without a fight as Olivia Reed hit an RBI double and Jordan Rasmussen scored on an error to cut the deficit to 1 run.
Hannah Mattingley stepped up huge in the last inning, closing the game out with a fly ball to second base. Mattingley was calm and collected with the tying run on second base and delivered two outs to secure the Lady Crusaders their most impressive win of the season. The Lady Crusaders will look to carry momentum into their series on Friday against Southwestern Christian.Â
