DALLAS TX-- The Dallas Christian College Baseball team defeated Blackburn College 5-0 on Tuesday afternoon at Glenda and Denny Dixon Field. DCC had 6 different pitchers on the mound in the complete game shutout victory.
In the first inning, DCC wasted no time with a two-run blast to left field by
Brandon Andrews to make the score 2-0. DCC continued its prowess on the mound in the third inning with Zack Andrews getting out of a jam. In the bottom half of the inning the Crusaders scored another run on a
Joel Stone Sacrifce fly to increase the lead to 3-0.
In the fifth inning,
Marcos Franjul hit a two-run home-run to left field to give the Crusaders insurance runs and a commanding 5-0 lead.
Derek Lewis got the nod on the mound. He went 2 innings allowing 1 hit and recording two strikeouts in 9 batters faced.
Zachary Andrews went 2 innings of work. He recorded 1 strikeout and gave up 3 hits.
Andrew Hickey went 2 innings and struck out two batters.
Sean Hiller,
Tobin Jones, and
Bryce Garza all went 1 inning to close the game out and secure a 5-0 victory for the Crusaders.
Brandon Andrews went 2 for 4 with a homerun and 2 RBI's.
Marcos Franjul went 1 for 2 with a homerun and 2 walks. Dallas Christian will be back on the field this weekend against Dakota State.
