DALLAS, TX-- The Dallas Christian College Baseball team extended its winning streak to 3 games after knocking of Dakota State University 8-7 in the first game and 7-4 in the second game of a 4 game series.
Game 1: The Crusaders were able to comeback in the bottom of the 6th inning with 2 runs and hold on in the top half of the 7th inning to secure a hard fought victory.
Stefon Reyes hit a homerun in the bottom half of the first inning to tie the game up. DSU scored 2 runs in the top half of the fourth inning to take a 3-1 lead. DCC scored 4 runs in the bottom half of the fourth inning to take a 5-3 lead. Zach Andrews hit a double off the wall to score 2 runs. DCC scored 2 runs in the bottom of the sixth inning including the game-tying triple by
Brandon Andrews and the game winning single by
Cooper Ness.
Cooper Ness went 2 for 4 with 2 singles and an RBI. Manny Valenzuela went 2 for 4 with a double and 1 run scored.
Bryce Garza got the no decision with 6 innings pitched and struck out 4 batters, only giving up 3 earned runs.
Andrew Hickey picked up the win, closing the game with a clean inning.
Game 2: DCC jumped off to an explosive start, scoring 6 runs in the first 2 innings. The Crusaders were able to use their early offensive explosion to hold on toa 7-4 victory.
Tobin Jones gave DCC a solid 4.1 innings, allowing 4 hits, 2 earned runs, and recorded 4 strikeouts.
Andrew Hickey pitched solid in relief, going 2.2 innings and only allowing 1 earned run.
Brandon Andrews went 2 for 4 with a double and 2 RBI's. Manny Valenzuela went 2 for 3 with 2 RBI's and a Sac Fly. The Crusaders will look to sweep the series tomorrow against Dakota State in the final 2 games of the weekend at 12 and 2:30 p.m.
