DALLAS, TX-- The Dallas Christian College Women's Basketball Team defeated Kansas Christian College on Friday afternoon 60-51 to pick up its first win of the season DCC overcame a 7 point deficit multiple times on its way to victory.
In the first quarter both teams played hard and neither team gave up an inch as KCC carried a two point lead. KCC gained momentum in the second quarter, outscoring DCC 19-14 to take a 34-27 lead into halftime.
DCC was able to gain momentum in the third quarter, outscoring KCC 19-10. The Lady Crusaders held onto the lead to grasp their first victory of the season. There were four Lady Crusaders in double figures.
Jennabelle Gonzales had 14 points on 5 of 13 shooting from the field,
Erin Byrd had 14 points on 5-15 shooting from the field,
T'Keitha Valentine had 14 points on 6-15 shooting from the field, and
Mckayla Washington had 12 points on 6-10 shooting from the field.
The Lady Crusaders shot 24-67 (35%) from the field, 7-22 (31%) from the three-point line, and 5-20 (25%) from the free-throw line. DCC had 8 second chance points, 32 points in the paint, 15 points off turnovers, and 5 bench points. The Lady Crusaders will be back at home on Monday at 4 p.m. against Southwestern Adventist for their last game before Christmas break.Â
