POINT LOOKOUT, MO-- The Dallas Christian women's volleyball team competed in the College of the Ozarks Labor Day Weekend Tournament on Friday, Sep. 2 and Saturday Sep. 3. The Lady Crusaders played Oklahoma Wesleyan, College of the Ozarks, Sterling College, and Baptist Bible College.
Friday, Sep. 2
Game 1: DCC battled Oklahoma Wesleyan in its first game of the tournament. In set 1 Oklahoma Wesleyan dominated with a 25-6 victory. Set two started off even as OKWU led 7-5. The Lady Crusaders continued to battle hard after a
Christen Downey Kill to cut the deficit to 15-8. Oklahoma Wesleyan continued its dominance with a 25-12 victory in set 2. In set 3, DCC kept it close as they only faced a 13-10 deficit after a kill by
Autumn Allmon. OKWU pulled away after holding off a late charge from the Lady Crusaders.
Christen Downey recorded 9 kills,
Autumn Allmon recorded 1 block,
Taylor Gary notched 9 assists, and
Rae Leano notched 11 digs.Â
Game 2: After a hard fought loss against Oklahoma Wesleyan, the Lady Crusaders took the court again against the College of the Ozarks. As a team in this match, DCC recorded 16 points, 11 kills, two Aces, 3 blocks, 10 assists, and 40 digs. The College of the Ozarks won in straight sets: 25-13, 25-11, 25-16.
Cameron Del Angel notched five kills,
Autumn Allmon racked up 3 blocks,
Taylor Gary recorded 5 assists, and
Rae Leano led the team with 14 digs.
Saturday, Sep.3
Game 3: The Lady Crusaders took the court early on Saturday morning at 9 a.m. against Baptist Bible College. BBC won set 1 26-21. In set 2, it was close set as DCC fell short by a score of 25-22. The Lady Crusaders carried momentum from a hard fought second set into the third set. DCC won set 3 25-23. In the fourth set, BBC closed the game out with a 25-23 victory. As a tea, DCC tallied 49 points, 33 kills, 11 Aces, 5 blocks, 31 assists, and 60 digs.
Christen Downey tallied 7 kills,
Rae Leano had 4 Aces,
Christen Downey totaled 3 blocks,
Taylor Gary tallied 13 assists, and
Rae Leano had 18 digs.Â
Game 4: In the final game of the tournament, the Lady Crusaders faced off against Sterling College. As a team, DCC racked up 22 points, 18 kills, 2 Aces, 2 blocks, 14 assists, and 30 digs. Sterling College won in straight sets: 25-10, 25-19, 25-15.
Autumn Allmon led the Lady Crusaders with six kills. Mary-Nichole Fenter recorded 2 blocks.
Alexis Garner tallied 6 assists.
Rae Leano led the team in digs with 6.Â
The Lady Crusaders will take a 7 day break and be back on the court Saturday, Sep. 3 at 11 a.m in Missouri against Stephens College.
