WVB: Lady Crusaders split Tri-Match against Stephens College and Kansas Christian College

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 COLOMBIA MO-- The Dallas Christian College women's volleyball team competed in a tri-match on Saturday against Stephens College and Kansas Christian College.

Game 1: The Dallas Christian College Lady Crusaders lost in straight sets against Stephens College on Saturday. DCC started off strong, jumping out to a 13-12 lead in the opening set. Stephens College battled back to win the first set 25-17.

In set two neither team could create space between each other at the beginning as the score was knotted at 10. Stephens College was able to end the set with five straight kills. After winning set two by a score of 25 to 20. Heading into the third set the Lady Crusaders looked to keep the game alive. 

Stephens College jumped out to a 14-8 lead in the third set. DCC battled back to within four points, but the Stars pulled away to secure a 3-0 victory.

Autumn Allmon led the Lady Crusaders with 6 kills, Christen Downey and Makenna Rambo both recorded 3 kills. Hannah Gallegos recorded 2 kills, Autumn Allmon recorded 2 blocks, Kelly Graves led with 7 assists, and Rae Leano recorded 12 digs.

Game 2: After suffering a loss in the first match of the day the Lady Crusaders bounced back with a 3-0 victory over Kansas Christian. DCC started off strong in the first set jumping out to a 15-5 lead after an attack error. The first set ended with an Ace by Rae Leano. DCC dominated the first set and won by a score of 25-15.

In the second set, KCC fought back and was able to keep it close throughout the set. DCC was able to regain the momentum with three straight points on a kill by Kelly Graves, a kill by Cameron Del Angel, and a service ace by Rae Leano to end the set and secure a 25-19 victory and a 2-0 lead heading into the third set.

After a slow start in the third set and being down 8-0, the Lady Crusaders overcame that deficit and secured a straight set sweep with a 25-19 victory in the third set. 

As a tam, DCC recorded 55 points, 34 kills, 18 aces, 3 blocks, 24 assists, and 36 digs. Cameron Del Angel led the team with 7 kills, Rae Leano led the team with 8 aces, Autumn Allmon recorded two blocks, Kelly Graves had 11 assists, and Rae Leano recorded 12 digs. The Lady Crusaders will be at home on Wednesday, Sep. 14 against the University of Dallas.
