DALLAS TX-- The Dallas Christian College women's Volleyball team split a Tri-Match on Saturday, defeating Randall University 3-0 in straight sets to move to 1-0 in conference play and then losing in straight sets 3-0 against NCAA Division 3 opponent University of St. Thomas.
Game 1: The Lady Crusaders found themselves trailing 20-15 in the first set. The momentum shifted after
Christen Downey recorded a kill to make the score 20-16. DCC tallied off 8 straight points to jump ahead 24-20, just needing one more point to win the first set in an emphatic way.
Makenna Rambo crushed a kill to secure a 25-21 victory in the first set.
The Lady Crusaders jumped ahead quickly in the second set with a fast start, feeding off the momentum gained in the last set. DCC snatched the second set 25-18. In the third set, The Lady Crusaders closed out a closely contested contest by a score of 25-21 to secure a conference victory over Randall University.
As a team, DCC collected 55 points, 39 kills, 7 Aces, 9 blocks, 30 Assists, and 53 digs.
Rae Leano notched 16 digs,
Hannah Gallegos corralled 17 Assists,
Christen Downey had 5 blocks,
Megan Ross had 3 Aces, and
Christen Downey led the team with 9 kills.
Game 2: Saint Thomas University defeated he Lady Crusaders in straight sets 25-17, 25-13, and 25-20. STU totaled 64 points, 41 kills,13 Aces, 10 blocks, 36 assists, and 44 digs. DCC tallied 26 points, 20 kills, 5 Aces, 1 block, 16 assists, and 32 digs.
Makenna Rambo led the Lady Crusaders with 5 kills,
Christen Downey had 2 Aces, and
Hannah Gallegos had 6 assists. The Lady Crusaders will play at Arlington Baptist on Tuesday, September 20th.
