Lady Crusaders drop road game against Jarvis Christian College

HAWKINS, TX-- The Dallas Christian College women's basketball team suffered a 95-59 loss on the road against Jarvis Christian College on Tuesday night.

The game started off with a basket by Hope Thomas for the first points of the game for DCC. Jarvis Christian College went on a 10-2 run in the first five minutes of the game with Faith Robinson scoring 7 points. Amber Covington ended the run with a layup to make the score 10-4. The Bulldogs then extended the lead to 18-4 with an 8-0 run.

JCC went on to extend its lead to 21-6 after a layup and the Mckayla Washington answered back with a made layup to make the score 23-8. The Bulldogs continued its dominant offensive start with a made shot by Raniya White to make the score 27-8. 

JCC knocked down another basket to make the score 30-8 with 45 seconds left in the opening quarter. After one quarter of play, the Bulldogs carried a 30-8 lead heading into the second quarter of the game.

To start the second quarter Faith Robinson to make the score 32-9. DCC made the score 32-11 after two made free-throws by Amber Covington. The Bulldogs outscored DCC 14-6 in the first 7 minutes of the second quarter to make the score 44-14. Yvonne Fuerte knocked a three-pointer down to make the score 44-17.

JCC continued to respond each time, JCC made a basket to extend its lead to 48-17. After one half of play, Jarvis Christian College carried a 49-19 lead into half-time.

In the second half, Jarvis Christian continued their stellar play and put the game away with a 95-59 victory. DCC gave a valiant effort and scored 42 points in the second half, but it was not enough to overcome the offensive blitz form the Lady Bulldogs.

The Lady Crusaders shot 19 of 58 (32.8%) from the field, 4-16 (25%) from the three-point line, and 17 of 21 (81%) from the FT line. DCC tallied 22 rebounds, 10 assists, 2 blocks, 4 steals, 21 bench points, and 22 points in the paint.

Keiarra Rivers led the team with 15 points and 7 rebounds. Amber Covington recorded 12 points and 5 rebounds. Yvonne Fuerte scored 10 points of the bench on 4-10 shooting from the field. DCC will be back home on Friday, Nov. 11 at 2 p.m. against Louisiana State Shreveport.
