DALLAS, TX-- The Dallas Christian College Lady Crusaders defeated Centenary College on Friday in five sets and picked up a huge conference win on Saturday afternoon in four sets against Champion Christian College on Senior Day where Christen Downey was honored before the game.
DCC vs. Centenary College- The Lady Crusaders used every ounce of energy to outlast Centenary College in five sets: 25-19, 25-21, 25-23, 25-14, 15-12. DCC tallied 68 points, 50 kills, 9 Aces, 9 Blocks, 43 assists, and 75 digs.
Christen Downey increased her total amount of kills for the season to 217 with 13 kills to lead her team. Junior, Alexis Garner, totaled 10 kills, and Mckenna Ramsey put in a solid performance with 7 kills. Megan Ross secured 5 Aces, Olivia Withers and Rae Leano both had 1 Ace. Autumn Allmon tallied 4 blocks, Makenna Rambo had 2 blocks, and Alexis Garner also added 2 blocks. Hannah Gallegos led the Lady Crusaders with 16 assists, Kelly Graves had 12 assists, and Rae Leano had 3 assists.
Rae Leano led both teams in digs with 27, Hannah Gallegos racked up 10 digs, and Mckenna Ramsey tallied 8. The Lady Crusaders used tenacious effort to propel themselves to a hard fought, down to the wire, 3-2 victory over Division III affiliate Centenary College.
DCC vs. Champion Christian College- The Lady Crusaders honored its lone senior Christen Downey before the final home game of the season. DCC defeated Champion Christian College in four sets: 26-24, 25-23, 25-16, 25-20.
The Lady Crusaders stat line for the day was 68 points, 50 kills, 12 aces, 6 blocks, 43 assists, and 84 digs. Alexis Garner snagged a season-high 17 kills, Christen Downey had 12 kills, and Mary-Nichole Fenter had 6 kills. Hannah Gallegos garnered 4 aces, Rae Leano tallied 3 aces, and Olivia Withers had 2 aces. Makenna Rambo had 3 blocks, Autumn Allmon had 2 blocks, and Mary-Nichole Fenter had 1 block.
Hannah Gallegos totald 27 assists, Kelly Graves had 8 assists, and Rae Leano had 3 assists. Rae Leano had 16 digs, Hannah Gallegos had 15 digs, and Megan Ross had 12 digs. The Lady Crusaders will now compete in the NCCAA Division II Regional Tournament on Friday, Nov. 4 at 6 p.m. against Spurgeon College.
