DALLAS, Texas – The Dallas Christian College men's soccer team had a tough assignment on Saturday afternoon by battling the reigning NCCAA Division II National Championship Randall University Saints.
 
It took about 20 minutes for the Saints (5-3) to get on the board, as Holy Gbode was able to break through the defense from a left-side box. Moments later, Edwin Towers doubled the total on a pass from Gbode who finished with three assists. Randall wrapped up the scoring in the first stanza with Matty Ozan putting a header from inside the middle of the box at the 34:43 minute mark. Randall finalized the scoring with two second-half goals.
 
DCC (2-3) had eight shots in the second half after being held to three. Five of the Crusaders 11 shots were on frame, but Randall's goalie Pedro Giordani had all five saves in a shutout. Luis Lopez and Brandon Flores made three saves apiece in goal. Ivan Najar collected a team-high three shots and put two on frame. Jeremy Callejas and Shane Anderson each took a pair of shots, while Lopez and Haider Mohammad put their lone shot attempts on goal and forced great reflexes by Giordani to preserve his clean sheet.
 
Dallas Christian is at Southwestern Adventist University this Tuesday for a 6 p.m. kickoff. The Crusaders are back home on Thursday, September 30 at 3 p.m. They play prior to the women's soccer match that day.
