Box Score SPRINGDALE, Ark. – The Dallas Christian College baseball team began the NCCAA Independent Regionals with a bang, exploding for 13 runs in the last three innings to defeat the No. 4 Seed Southeastern Baptist College on Monday morning. DCC broke through with three runs in the fourth inning and after the Chargers countered with one in the bottom of the inning, Dallas Christian put up 10 unanswered runs highlighted by six in the sixth inning to secure the victory.
The No. 5 Seed Crusaders advanced to play the No. 1 Seed and host school Ecclesia College in the early afternoon on Monday.
A trio of DCC players tallied three runs-batted-in, with the group coming from spots 4-5-6 in the batting order. Alex Westman had a 2-for-3 game and started the scoring with a home run over left field. Garrett Moody singled home Cooper Ness for the second run of the frame and his lone hit of the day. Andrew Torrez lined out and a second out occurred at third base, but Casey Morrow was able to scamper home and count the third run of the inning.
DCC starting pitcher Collin Patten worked a complete game over the six innings. It had been a pitcher's duel through the first three innings. Patten went the distance and had plenty of run support late, as he finished with just a run allowed on five hits. He did not allow a walk and fanned five. His lone blemish was a wild pitch in the fourth that accounted for the only run the Chargers gained that scored Deontay Robinson.
Westman picked up his other hit in the contest, which was for extra bases on a double that scored Stefon Reyes. After Adriel Davila reached, Ness smacked a three-run blast to center field to highlight a four-run fifth inning. This trio that scored would finish the game with three runs driven in apiece and also each went yard, as Davila clubbed one to left field. With the game well out of reach, Morrow lined a round-tripper to left and gave the Crusaders four homers total and two in the big sixth inning.
Brandon Andrews, who has been an impact bat during the hot stretch for DCC, did show up in the box score with three of the team's multi-hit games with a 2-for-3. Reyes, Westman, Davila, Ness, and Morrow all scored at least twice with Westman leading that category with three.
