The Crusaders got off to a slow start by falling behind 5-1 through four minutes to open the contest. Texas Christian would finish the quarter up 16-15. However, the Crusaders prevailed in scoring the remaining three quarters, which included a 51-35 second half difference.

Brokenberry knotted things at 19 in the second quarter and then got it done on the next play defensively with a steal. Walter buried a trey to put the Crusaders up for good and was part of a huge 13-0 run. Jolly, who finished with eight points, would cap the surge on a jump shot with 4:52 before the halftime break. The Wolfpack got within six, but a three-pointer by Twine sent the score back to nine with under a minute to go. The halftime score favored DCC 34-27.

As mentioned already, the Crusaders were able to break out the offense in the last 20 minutes. The start of the third had things competitive, as the first three minutes had Texas Christian scrapping at a three-point deficit (38-35), but Washington pushed things out with a three-pointer. The freshman out of Humble, Texas, came up with another huge answer after the score got nipped to 43-41. DCC raced out to a double-digit advantage as Brokenberry got a steal with two and a half minutes left and completed the fast break. Cyrstal Eureste followed with a theft of her own and Rivers benefited from her assist to make it 54-41. Brokenberry added a jumper and Washington scored the final basket on a layup with under 10 seconds to wrap up a 15-1 scoring swing.
