Box Score SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The Dallas Christian College women's basketball team completed its two-day road trip at Baptist Bible with a 76-54 setback. Playing consecutive days, the seven-girl roster was unable to keep up with the Patriots, who outscored DCC 66-40 over the last three quarters.
The Crusaders grabbed the 2-0 lead on a basket from Courtnee Locke. After allowing seven points, the road team got the next three points from Gabby Garza and went up at 3:20 with a triple by Locke. Avery Roberts had a trey of her own to make it 11-10, and then McKayla Washington delivered the final field goal for points to cap a 13-10 Crusaders lead after one.
Dallas Christian allowed a 21-12 edge in scoring in the second quarter to fall behind by six at halftime, 31-25. Baptist Bible had control the rest of the way, going up double figures in the third frame.
Locke stood out once again for Dallas Christian as the leading scorer on the road trip. This time she notched a personal-high 24 points on the strength of 9-of-19 shooting from the field. She made five three-pointers and had six rebounds to tie second-most on the team. The native of Little Elm, Texas, matched team-highs in steals (4) and assists (3).
Another scorer in double figures was Washington with 12 points. Roberts added nine points and had a team-high seven boards.
Baptist Bible was led in scoring by Kaitlyn King with 19 points and 16 rebounds. She did most of her damage at the free throw line with an 11-for-14 effort. Autumn Enote and Chloe Lansdown chipped in 14 and 11 points, respectively.
Dallas Christian finishes the year at home for the MCM Elgante DCC Christmas Classic, which will be December 29-31. The Crusaders host Sul Ross State University, LeTourneau University, and Texas A&M-Texarkana University around 3 p.m. A neutral site tilt between the squads not playing DCC that day will happen at 1 p.m. All games will be available online to watch and fans can get the details by clicking here.
