DCC 2026 Athletics Banquet

GRAPEVINE, TX-- Our mission at Dallas Christian College is to equip students to engage in Kingdom work and to be an influence in the world. We are very proud to have these Christian men and women in our athletic program. This banquet is a celebration of the hard work and dedication they have put forth all year long.

Main recognition awards included: The Mark Worley Male Fruit of the Spirit Award is presented to a male student athlete who consistently exhibits Christ-like character and the "fruit of the Spirit": Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Faithfulness, Gentleness, and Self-Control (Galatians 5:22-23).
 
The Male Fruit of the Spirit Award for 2025-2026 goes to:
 
Zach Hopson (Baseball)

The Caroline Worley Fruit of the Spirit Award is presented to a female student athlete who consistently exhibits Christ-like character and the "fruit of the Spirit": Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Faithfulness, Gentleness, and Self-Control (Galatians 5:22-23).
 
The Female Fruit of the Spirit Award for 2025-2026 is awarded to:
 
Chloe Buckner (Women's Basketball)

At this time, I would like to invite our Director of Athletics for Dallas Christian College, Mr. Gregg Mucerino, to come to the platform and announce the winners of the Female and Male Athletes of the Year.
 
 
The Female Athlete of the Year is awarded to a student athlete who has outstanding success in her sport, combining physical skills and individual success with the team at heart. The nominees for this year are:
 
Female Athlete of the Year Nominees:
 
Softball Erin Thibault: Thibault has a 420-batting average, a 1.162 OPS, has 32 hits in 75 at bats with 20 RBI's and a .680 slugging percentage. She had 9 doubles, 2 triples, and 2 homeruns.
 
Brooke Nails Women's Basketball: Nails averaged 10. 2 points per game, 4.2 rebounds per game and 3 assists per game. Nails played 27.5 minutes per game which was the most of anyone on the team. Nails had 29 steals and 2 blocks.
 
Women's Volleyball Zoelley Herrera: played 64 sets, 30 kills, 234 assists, and 160 digs on the season. Herrera averaged 2.54 digs per set.
 
 
The Female Athlete of the Year Award goes to:
 
 
Erin Thibault (Women's Softball)

The Male Athlete of the Year is awarded to a student athlete who has outstanding success in his sport, combining physical skills and individual success with the team at heart. The nominees for this year are:
 
MBB Carlas Canady: Averaged 13.9 points per game, 5 rebounds per game, and 3 assists per game on 44% shooting from the field, 24% from the three-point line, and 66% from the free-throw line. Canady also totaled 51 steals and 16 blocks.
 
Baseball Wyatt Smith: Batting 440 on the season so far through 32 games with a 1.244 OPS, with 44 hits in 100 at-bats. He has 11 doubles, 5 homeruns, with 37 RBI's, and a .700 slugging percentage.
 
Men's Soccer Kevin Jacinto: Led the team in goals for the second straight season in a row. Played through a sport hernia all season long. Was valuable on the defensive end and helped lead his team to NCCAA Nationals.
 
Cross Country Jose Martinez- finished in 9th place at NCCAA Nationals running a time of 28:44.7 in the 8K. He built up his time throughout the year and improved at each meet.
 
 
The Male Athlete of the Year Award goes to:
 
Wyatt Smith (Baseball) and Kevin Jacinto (Men's Soccer)

The Dwight Coleman Jr. Outstanding Leadership Award

 
Former DCC Men's Basketball Coach, Dwight Coleman, Jr., passed away unexpectedly on April 5, 2022. One of the ways that we decided to honor Dwight and to continue his legacy of pouring into young men is by establishing the Dwight Coleman Jr Outstanding Leadership Award. The description for this award is in your program. DCC will award this special honor to:
 
"A student who best demonstrates the leadership impact and attributes of Head Coach Dwight Coleman, Jr.: outstanding leadership presence, Godly character, ability to encourage and infuse the culture with a positive spiritual mindset, role model for relentless determination, infectious strong work ethic, and ability to unite, impact, lead, and drive others toward success."
 
This year, the award goes to:
 
Carlas Canady

Galatians 5:13 Assistant Coach of the Year
 
This award entails recognizing someone who has supported the athletic department in a positive light and has been a great support system for head coaches.
 
The recipient of the Galatians 5:13 Assistant Coach of the Year is….. Monti Van Brunt!
 
Matthew 6:33 Coaches Award
 
This is the second year that we are giving out the Matthew 6:33 Coaches Award. This award entails recognizing someone who has supported the athletic department in a positive light, supporting student athletes and faces adversity while leading spiritually in line with the mission of DCC Athletics.
 
The recipient of the Matthew 6:33 Coaches Award is . . . Men's Basketball Head Coach Emmanuel Bland!!!!
