VIERA, FLORIDA-- The Dallas Christian College women's softball team finished up the Space Coast Spring Games with a 4-4 record overall, going 2-2 in the final two days of the tournament. The Crusaders lost to Cottey College 9-1, defeated New College of Florida 9-7, beat Webster University 8-0, and lost to Carleton College 2-1.
Game 5: The Crusaders fought hard, but were not able to get the bats going, falling 9-1 against Cottey College.
Julissa Amparo went 2 for 3 at the plate with one RBI.
Toni Meyer pitched 3.1 innings allowing 3 runs, 6 hits in 17 batters faced.
Game 6: The Crusaders bounced back in game 2 with a 9-7 victory from start to finish, holding off a late surge to secure a 9-7 victory.
Erin Thibault went 1 for 4 at the plate with 2 RBI's.
Georgina Carrillo went 1 for 4 at the plate with 2 RBI's.
Miranda Salinas went 1 for 4 at the plate with a double and 2 RBI"s.
Nizhoni Yellow picked up the win pitching 6.1 innings allowing 6hits, 1 earned run, and 5 strikeouts in 32 batters faced.
Mattie Parham picked up her first save of the season.
Game 7: The Crusaders dominated from start to finish, using a 5 run 5th inning to secure an 8-0 victory against Webster University.
Julia Saucedo went 3 for 4 at the plate with 3 runs scored.
Erin Thibault went 3 for 3 at the plate with 3 RBI's.
Georgina Carrillo went 2 for 4 at the plate with 2 RBI's.
Kayla Looper pitched a complete game shut-out only allowing 3 hits, and no runs in 21 batters faced.
Game 8: The Crusaders had the game-winning run up to bat, but were not able to capitalize on the opportunity as Carleton College pulled out the 2-1 victory in a pitching battle.
Georgina Carrillo went 1 for 3 at the plate.
Jasmine Hernandez pitched 2.2 innings allowing 6 hits, 2 runs, and 1 walk in 14 batters faced.
Kaylee Brent pitched 4.1innings in relief allowing 2 hits, and 5 strikeouts in 16 batters faced.
The Crusaders will be back in action on Wednesday, March 25 at 2 and 4 PM against Texas A&M Texarkana University.
