SB: Lady Crusaders cracking bats lead to back-to-back NDAG Regional Championships

FORT WORTH, TX-- The Dallas Christian College Softball team won its second straight NDAG Regional Championship against Arlington Baptist University on Sunday afternoon at Lon Goldstein field, scoring 12 runs in the third inning which catapult DCC to a 12-1 victory.

The Lady Crusaders started the game off strong defensively with a clean first inning, allowing no runs and one hit. In the bottom half of the first inning Lia Rojas and Kaylee Brent each notched singles, but DCC was not able to capitalize with runners on base, ending the inning on a double play after a line-out by Georgina Carillo.

The top of the second inning was continued with dominance on the mound by Kaylee Brent. Brent struck out the first batter, used an off-speed pitch to keep the hitter guessing which led to a fly-out, and then the inning ended with a ground-out to third base.

DCC was held scoreless in the bottom-half of the second inning. Heading to the top of the third inning, the game was deadlocked at zero. Arlington Baptist broke the scoreless game with a run in the top of the third inning after an error.

DCC had a thunderous response in the bottom of the third inning, which started with a Morgan Frost Single, followed by a Kyleigh Lewis single via a bunt, putting two runners on base with no outs. Kaylee Brent gave the Lady Crusaders a 2-1 lead with an RBI single.

Jayla Stephens drove home two runs with a pinch hit, 2 RBI single to extend the lead to 4-1. Perla Herrera earned a walk with the bases loaded, scoring Georgina Carillo to extend the lead to 5-1. Julissa Amparo continued the offensive explosion with an RBI single to make the score 6-1. Morgan Frost picked up an RBI on a fielder's choice to extend the lead to 7-1.

Lia Rojas kept the offense rolling with an RBI single to make the score 8-1. Kaylee Brent continued her stellar performance at the plate with an RBI single to make the score 9-1. Georgina Carillo cleared the bases with a two RBI triple to extend the lead to 11-1.

Laila Robins capped off the scoring in the inning with an RBI single to extend the lead to 12-1. The Lady Crusaders totaled 12 runs, 9 hits, and left one run on base in the third inning. DCC was able to close out the game with stellar pitching by Kaylee Brent. Kaylee Brent pitched 5 innings allowing 3 hits, 1 run, no earned runs, and 4 strikeouts in 21 batters faced.

Kyleigh Lewis went 2 for 4 at the plate with 2 runs scored. Lia Rojas went 2 for 2 with 1 RBI. Kaylee Brent went 3 for 3 at the plate with 3 RBI's. Brent was phenomenal in the regional going 10 for 10 at the plate with three home-runs. 

Jayla Stephens went 1 for 1 with a 2 RBI single. The Lady Crusaders will enter the 2025 NCCAA World Series as a representative of the NDAG Region. Dallas Christian College is serving as the host for the 2025 NCCAA World Series which will take place at Oak Grove Softball Complex from May 19-21. The Lady Crusaders will look to make some noise on the national stage.
