MELBOURNE, FLORIDA-- The Dallas Christian College Softball team defeated #2 NCCAA University of Fort Lauderdale 7-4 on Thursday afternoon at the Space Coast Games.
The Lady Crusaders bounced back from an extra inning loss in its last outing with a 7-4 win. DCC got the bats going in the second inning with a single to right field by
Erin Thibault, followed by a walk by
Julissa Amparo.
Kyleigh Lewis knocked in two runs with an RBI single to right field.
Lia Rojas reached on a walk bringing up
Kaylee Brent with 2 runners on. Brent blasted a double to left field scoring both runners to extend the lead to 4-0. In the bottom of the fourth inning Fort Lauderdale cut the deficit to 4-2.
The Lady Crusaders answered back with three runs of its own in the top of the 5th inning.
Laila Robins picked up an RBI single, Georgina Carillo scored on a stolen base on the throw down to second.
Jayla Stephens picked up an RBI with a sac-fly to score

The Lady Crusaders allowed 2 runs, but were able to hold off a comeback attempt and complete the 7-4 victory.
Kaylee Brent went 2 for 3 with 2 RBI's.
Kyleigh Lewis went 1 for 4 with 2 RBI's. Georgina Carillo went 2 for 3 at the plate.
Kelsey Cauthron pitched 7 innings allowing 5 hits, 4 runs, 4 earned runs, and 5 strikeouts. The Lady Crusaders face Webber International at 2:30 PM.
