FARMERS BRANCH, TX-- The Dallas Christian College Baseball team defeated Blackburn College 11-7 in the first game and 6-4 in the second game on Wednesday afternoon at Glenda & Denny Dixon Field.
Game 1- Dallas Christian scored three runs in the opening inning after a lead-off single by
AJ Smith, followed by an RBI single by
Jonas Ledesma, and a 2 RBI double by
Derek Lewis. Blackburn scored 7 runs in the next 4 innings to snag a 7-4 lead heading into the bottom of the 6th inning.
The Crusader offense ripped the game open with a 7 run 6th inning and a scoreless 7th inning to secure a 11-7 victory.
Jonas Ledesma went 2 for 4 with an RBI.
AJ Smith went 1 for 3 with 2 runs scored and an RBI.
Trevor Moore picked up the win on the mound for the Crusaders pitching 2 innings in relief, allowing 2 hits, no runs, and 1 strikeout in 7 batters faced.
Game 2- In the second game of the day DCC secured a 6-4 victory to extend its winning streak to 2 games, looking for a sweep against Blackburn College.
The first 3 and a half innings were a pitcher's duel until DCC scored 3 runs in the bottom of the fourth and 5th innings to extend its lead to 6-2.
Blackburn College scored 2 runs in the final 2 innings as DCC held-off a comeback attempt to secure the win.
Andrew Hickey went 2 for 3 with 1 RBI.
Chase Childs went 2 for 3 with an RBI.
Tyland Lackey pitched 3 innings allowing no runs, 1 hit, and 2 strikeouts.
Riley Hernandez pitched 2 innings allowing 2 innings pitched, 3 hits, 2 runs, and 1 walk.
Daniel Cox closed the game pitching 2 innings, allowing 2 runs, and 5 hits, and 1 strikeout. The Crusaders will look to cap off a sweep in the final game of the series at 1 PM.
