MELBOURNE, FLORIDA-- The Dallas Christian Softball team picked up its second straight win in a row with a 3-2 victory against Indiana University South Bend on Tuesday afternoon at Pride stadium.
The first 2 innings of the game had dominant pitching with no runs allowed. That changed after
Kyleigh Lewis and
Lia Rojas both reached on back-to-back singles, and then a
Kaylee Brent single followed scoring
Kyleigh Lewis to make the score 1-0. Georgina Carillo followed up with a single to score
Lia Rojas to make the score 2-1.
IUSBÂ battled back in the bottom of the 4th inning with an RBI double by Summer Johnson to cut the deficit to 2-1. The Lady Crusaders added another run in the top of the 5th inning with a
Jayla Stephens pinch hit single to score Georgina Carillo to make the score 3-2.
IUSB scored a run in the bottom of the 7th, but DCC was able to hold off the furious come-back attempt with the game ending on batter's interference.
One through five hitters in the lineup accounted for 10 of the 13 hits for the Lady Crusaders.
Lia Rojas continued her offensive hot-streak going 3 for 4, Georgina Carillo went 3 for 4 with an RBI.
Laila Robins went 2 for 4 at the plate.
Nizhoni Yellow picked up the win in the circle for the Lady Crusaders pitching 5.1 innings allowing 6 hits, 1 run, 1 earned run, and one walk in 25 batters faced.
Autumn Minyard pitched 1.2 innings allowing 2 hits, 1 run, and 1 earned run picking up the save.
The Lady Crusaders extend its winning streak to 2 games. DCC will face University of Northwestern Ohio at 2:30 p.m.
