EULESS, TX-- The Dallas Christian College Baseball team (0-2) suffered two losses on opening day against the defending NCCAA national champions, Southwestern Christian University on Friday afternoon at Legends Field at the Texas Star. DCC lost 3-2 in the first game and 31-10 in the second game.
Game 1:
AJ Smith led the game off with a single, stole second and third base, resulting in putting pressure on the pitcher to force a balk to score the first run of the game. DCC held strong on defense for the first three innings of the game, not allowing a run. SCU scored 2 runs in the 4th and a run in the 6th inning.
DCC was not able to push any runs across in the bottom of the 7th inning and fell 3-2 in the first game of the day.
AJ Smith went 2 for 4 on the day with a stolen base.
Derek Lewis had a solid day at the plate going 2 for 3.
Caden Beck pitched 5 innings only allowing 2 hits 2 runs, 1 earned run, 3 strikeouts in 17 batters faced.
Game 2: In game 2, the Eagles offense exploded for 31 runs, sinking DCC early and not allowing any momentum.
Ethan Martinez went 2 for 2 off the bench in the second game.
Lamar Blatnick went 1 for 4 with 5 RBI's. The Crusaders will look to bounce back tomorrow against SCU at 12 and 2:30 PM at DCC.
