MSOC: Crusaders score late goal, defeat Providence 3-2

ANKENY, IOWA-- The Dallas Christian College men's soccer team (2-0) continued its impressive start to the season with a 3-2 victory over Providence University College (0-1) to move to 2-0 on the season on Friday night. 

The Crusaders wasted no time putting pressure on its opponent with a shot on goal by David Rivas that was saved by the goalie, but the Crusaders capitalized on the missed shot with a follow up goal by Alejandro Hernandez to propel DCC to an early 1-0 lead. 

The Crusaders drew a foul in the 18th minute and capitalized on the opportunity with a set piece goal. Erick Garcia sent a ball in the box and Kevin Jacinto scored his third goal of the season with a header that found the back of the net to give the Crusaders a commanding 2-0 lead heading into halftime.

Providence equalized the score at 2 with 2 penalty kick goals in the 76th minute and the 83rd minute. The Crusaders wasted no time in responding after drawing a foul in the box. Kevin Jacinto stepped into the box with composure and scored the game winning goal on a penalty kick for his fourth goal in two games. 

DCC had 16 shots (8 on goal), and Providence had 13 shots (3 on goal). The Crusaders goalie Danilo Dalisay had one save. This is the first 2-0 start for the Crusaders in the last 5 years. DCC will be on the road against Nelson University at 4 PM.
