BB: Crusaders Sweep Tigers to close out homestand

DALLAS, TX-- The Dallas Christian College Baseball team (10-17) completed a sweep of Champion Christian College on Thursday afternoon with a 13-8 win in game 1 and a 17-5 win in game 2 of the day. 

Game 1 of Series: The Crusaders scored 2 runs in the bottom of the first inning with a 2 RBI single by Cruz Sosa. Champion Christian cut the deficit to one run in the fifth inning. The Crusaders exploded for 4 runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to put the game out of reach. Kyle Brealond had an RBI single, Cooper Ness had an RBI Sac Fly, and Zach Andrews had an RBI double. Derek Lewis picked up his third straight win going 7 innings, allowing 5 hits and 1 earned run. Lewis recorded 6 strikeouts. Kyle Brealond went 1 for 2 with an RBI, 2 walks, and 2 runs scored. DCC held on to a 6-1 victory.

Game 2 of the series: The Tigers scored 2 runs in the top of the first inning, but the Crusaders were not phased and answered back with two runs of its own with a two run home-run blast by Cooper Ness. The Crusaders seized control in the bottom of the fourth inning with a sacrifice bunt by Riekken Bostick and a home-run by Derek Lewis to give DCC a 4-2 lead. James Holiday picked up his first win of the season. Holiday pitched 5 innings allowing 1 earned run in 22 batters faced. Trevor Moor entered the game in the sixth inning with the bases loaded and no outs. Moor proceeded to strikeout the side and lift his team out of the jam. DCC held on to a 5-2 victory.

Game 3 of the series: The Crusaders scored 2 runs in the bottom of the first inning on a double by Stefon Reyes. Cooper Ness grounded into a double play but picked up an RBI. Cruz Sosa picked up an RBI with a 6-3 ground-out to score Stefon Reyes in the bottom of the third inning. Josh Freeman also picked up an RBI on a double. DCC was able to hold on to win its third straight game. Zachary Andrews pitched 5 innings, and allowed 3 runs. He also recorded 5 strikeouts. DCC held on to the 13-8 victory.

Game 4 of the series: The Crusaders offense exploded for 17 runs to cap off a 4 game series sweep of the Tigers. This marked the first sweep of the season for DCC. Cooper Ness went 2 for 5 with 3 RBI's. Stefon Reyes went 1 for 3 with 3 RBI's. Matt Makarwich was perfect at the plate on the day going 4 for 4 with 3 RBI's. Derek Lewis went 2 for 3 with an RBI. Caden Beck pitched 7 innings and picked up the win. The Crusaders are now on a four game winning streak and will be back in action on Monday and Tuesday against Arlington Baptist.
