FARMER'S BRANCH, TX-- The Dallas Christian College Men's Basketball team (2-9, 1-0) opened up conference play on Friday the 13th with a 72-64 victory over Southwest Adventist University, led by an outstanding performance from the Crusaders bench with 38 points from non-starters.
The Crusaders got off to a slow start going down 13-5, but were able to finish the first half outscoring SWAU 31-16 the rest of the half. DCC was able to hold off the relentless pressure from the Knights down the stretch to pull out the tight win.
DCC outrebounded SWAU 45-38 (+7), DCC had 12 assists, 4 blocks, and 11 steals. The Crusaders shot 24-69 (34%) from the field, 6-28 (21%) from the three-point line, and 18-25 (72%) from the free-throw line. DCC had 32 points in the paint, 9 second chance points, 18 points off turnovers, and 38 bench points.Â
Carlas Canady was a huge lift for the Crusaders off the bench with 16 points, 2 steals, and 4 assists.
Blake Walker notched 14 points and 4 rebounds on 4-9 shooting from the field.
Terius Maxie had two big time dunks in key moments of the game.
Ronald Ducros had a game-high 16 rebounds and played stellar defense. The Crusaders will be back on the road Monday against Arkansas Fort-Smith.Â
