DALLAS, TX-- The Dallas Christian College men's soccer team opened up the season on Saturday afternoon at home against Pensacola Christian. PCC overcame an early deficit to hold on to a 3-2 victory. The Crusaders were relentless and showed they are poised for a huge year.
In the fifth minute of the game
Angel Medel laced a free-kick into the back of the net for his first goal of the season to put the Crusaders on top with an early 1-0 lead. The first half was tightly contested and neither defense was giving an inch. PCC netted to goals towards the end of the first half to take a 2-1 lead.
In the second half PCC scored quickly to take a 3-1 lead. DCC had plenty of scoring opportunities and was relentless in the second half. The Crusaders finally broke through on a free kick by
Angel Medel. Medel netted his second goal of the game to bring the deficit to one goal.
Freshman Goalkeeper
Alexis Hernandez recorded 8 saves including multiple diving saves. Although the Crusaders fell short, it was a tremendous effort all the way until the final whistle. The Crusaders will be at Paul Quinn College on Monday night at 8 o'clock.
