PLANO, TX—The Dallas Christian College Softball team opened up the 2023 NCCAA NDAG Regional Tournament on Friday afternoon as hosts with a 13-10 loss against Ecclesia College, putting them in an elimination game against Southeastern Baptist College. Your Lady Crusaders started off strong with an 8-1 lead, but were not able to hold on to it. In the second game of the tournament, DCC bounced back with an 8-0 victory in 5 innings. DCC would face-off against a familiar opponent in Arlington Baptist in an elimination game on Saturday morning. The Lady Crusaders fought hard and played with enthusiasm and excitement. The Lady Crusaders left it all on the field and battled until the end making stellar plays, hitting homeruns, and most importantly having fun. Arlington Baptist ended up defeating the Lady Crusaders 12-11.
Game 1: The Lady Crusaders batted around in the first inning, scoring 8 runs. Ecclesia battled back chipping away at the lead each inning, They eventually gained a 13-10 lead and were able to hold onto it to stay in the winners bracket.
Kaylee Brent went 1 for 3 with a homerun and 3 RBI's.
Lacey Bainbridge went 2 for 5 with 2 RBI's.
Summer Hasfurter went 3 innings on the mound, allowing 2 earned runs and recorded 2 strikeouts.
Autumn Minyard went 2 innings allowing 3 hits and 1 run. The Lady Crusaders competed in an elimination game at 4:30 against Southeastern Baptist College.
Game 2: The Lady Crusaders were able to rebound from the loss against Ecclesia and put together an all-around performance.
Summer Hasfurter was dominant at the plate and on the mound. Hasfurter went 3 for 3 with a homerun and 3 RBI's. She also pitched 5 innings, allowing 4 hits, no runs, and recorded 2 strikeouts. Alexa Brionees blasted her first 2 homeruns of the season and had 3 RBI's. The Crusaders cruised to victory, setting up a matchup against Arlington Baptist in an elimination game.
Game 3: Arlington Baptist defeated DCC by as core of 12-11. The Lady Crusaders played hard and held a lead for most of the game. Even though they lost in the final game of the season, there is a lot to be proud about as they fought hard and never gave up even when things did not go their way.
Lacey Bainbridge went 2 for 5 with 3 RBI's.
Kelley Taff went 2 for 4 with a homerun and 3 RBI's. The Lady Crusaders will look to build off its late-season success heading into year 2 with Ryan Lindsey leading the charge.
