OVERLAND PARK, KANSAS-- The Dallas Christian Baseball team traveled 7 hours to face-off against conference opponent Kansas Christian College in the first 2 games of a four game series on Friday afternoon. The Crusaders lost 1-0 in a pitching duel in the first game and suffered a close 7-5 loss in the second game.
Game 1:
Bryce Garza put together a strong outing on the mound going 6 innings, allowing 1 earned run, 4 hits, and 6 strikeouts in 23 batters faced. The pitching and defense for both teams dominated the game as there was only a total of 6 hits between both teams.
Stefon Reyes and
Derek Lewis were the two batters for the Crusaders that recorded a hit. Reyes also recorded a stolen base. The lone run in the game was on a home-run in the fourth inning by Chris Hunter for KCC. THe Crusaders defense made some outstanding plays and fed off the energy of their Ace

Game 2: The Crusaders jumped out to a 3-1 lead in the second inning after
BG Santana scored on a bunt by
Jaylen Camarillo,
Marcos Franjul scored on a wild throw, and
Jaylen Camarillo scored on an RBI single by Center fielder
Brandon Andrews. KCC answered with 2 runs of their own in the bottom half of the third inning on two RBI singles. DCC regained the lead in the top of the fourth inning after Rhiekken Bostick hit a lead-off triple and
Jaidon Erivez hit an RBI single to score Bostick. KCC scored 4 runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to take a 7-4 lead. DCC continued to fight hard and scored 1 run in the sixth inning on an RBI double by
Stefon Reyes to cut the deficit to two runs. KCC closed up the game with a clean 7th inning to secure a 7-5 victory.
Jaidon Erivez had a phenomenal day at the plate with 4 singles, 1 RBI, and 1 run scored.
Stefon Reyes went 2 for 4 with a double and an RBI.
Tobin Jones went 4 innings, allowing 6 earned runs on 10 hits, and 2 walks. He also recorded 4 strikeouts. JD Holiday pitched 2 innings in relief, allowing 2 hits, no earned runs, and struck out one batter. The Crusaders will finish up the four game series tomorrow at 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.
