SPRINGDALE, ARKANSAS-- The Dallas Christian College Baseball team defeated Ecclesia College on Friday afternoon 3-0 in the first game and 11-5 in the second game to open up the four game series. DCC received dominant pitching, solid defense, and timely hitting to complete the day with 2 victories.

Game 1: Manny Valenzuela jump-started the offense in the second inning with a homerun in the second inning to make the score 1-0. DCC captured another run in the fifth inning with an RBI single by Stefon Reyes. Kyle Brealand pinch ran in the 7th inning and scored an insurance run to extend the lead to 3-0. Bryce Garza put together another impressive performance on the bump with a complete game shutout, only allowing 3 hits, no runs, and recording 8 strikeouts. Manny Valenzuela went 2 for 3 with a homerun and an RBI. Stefon Reyes went 1 for 1 with an RBI single and 2 walks. 

Game 2: In the second game of the day, the Crusaders bats awakened and led to an 11 run performance. Josh Freeman cranked a 3 run homerun to right field to make the score 3-0. Manny Valenzuela sat back on his pitch and blasted an RBI double to Center-field to extend the lead to 4-0. Brandon Andrews blasted a homerun to deep center-field to extend the lead to 5-0. Brandon Andrews hit his second homerun of the season to help the Crusaders secure an 11-5 victory over Ecclesia. Tobin Jones was outstanding on the mound pitching 6.1 innings, allowing 3 runs, 2 hits, and 3 earned runs. Andrew Hickey came up clutch in the final inning with a strikeout to close out the game and secure an 11-5 victory. Brandon Andrews went 2 for 4 with 2 homeruns and 3 RBI's. Cooper Ness went 2 for 4 with an RBI. Josh Freeman went 1 for 3 with a homerun and 3 RBI's. The Crusaders will face Ecclesia in a DH tomorrow at 12 and 2 p.m. to close out the four game series.
