VIERA, FLORIDA-- The Dallas Christian College Softball team competed in the USSSA Space Classic Spring Games on Monday afternoon against Missouri Baptist and Indiana University at South Bend. DCC lost hte first gam in a pitching duel 3-0 and lost the second game 7-2.
Game 1 vs. Missouri Baptist: The Lady Crusaders battled hard in the first game. Neither team was able to develop any offense in this pitching duel. MBU scored 3 runs in the first 4 innings and did not score any runs in the last three innings of the game as
Autumn Minyard put together a stellar performance on the mound. Minyard pitched 6 innings and only allowed 4 hits and struck 4 batters out. Minyard did not allow an earned run. Head Coach Ryan Lindsey shared his thoughts on Minyard's performance. "
Autumn Minyard was dominant in the circle, controlling both sides of the plate scattering 4 hits and 0 earned runs.It was a breakout performance we hope to build on."
Hanna Roye went 2 for 3 with 2 singles.
Game 2:
Summer Hasfurter was on the mound in game 2 and went 7 innings, allowing 4 earned runs, 10 hits, and struck out 3 batters. Lindsey shared his thoughts on Hasfuter's performance. "ummer Hasfurter was almost as equally dominant in her outing. Unfortunately our defense was not as crisp in the 7th inning as it had been behind her through 6. Summer pounded the strike zone only walking 1 keeping the crusaders in the game."
Hanna Roye continued her dominance at the plate with 3 hits and a double in 4 plate appearances. Coach Lindsey was pleased with her performance as a leadoff hitter. "Offensively
Hanna Roye was almost unstoppable at the plate. Going 5 for 7 with a double and stolen base. Hanna has given us great at bats all year as we moved her into the leadoff position," said Lindsey. "We know when she steps to the plate she will give us a quality at bat and chance to get the inning going. She has been nothing short of amazing stepping into the lead off spot where she is admittedly not as comfortable but has embraced it and continues to pound out hits for us and set the table." The Lady Crusaders will be back in action tomorrow at 2 and 4:30 p.m. against Indiana Tech and Aquinas College.
