RANDALL, OK-- The Dallas Christian College women's basketball team tamed the Bears of Barclay with a 95-60 victory in the first round of the NCCAA DII Regional Tournament. The Lady Crusaders put together a dominant performance from start to finish.
The Lady Crusaders started the game with an offensive explosion scoring 49 points in the first half. DCC played stifling defense and turned stellar defense into good offense. The transition play was phenomenal for the Lady Crusaders, scoring 29 points off turnovers.
DCC shot 38-85 (44%) from the field, 3-14 (21%) from the three-point line, and 16-22 (72%) from the free-throw line.
Yvonne Fuerte cashed in a career high 24 points on 9-15 shooting from the field,
Amber Covington snatched another double-double with 23 points and 14 boards.
Rakia Lee, the team's leading scorer had a solid night with 23 points and 14 rebounds.
Mckayla Washington had 14 points on 50% shooting from the field.
The Lady Crusaders dominated the paint with 58 points in the paint. DCC will face-off against Champion Christian College on Friday, Feb. 24 at 1 p.m. in the Regional Tournament semi-final game.
