DALLAS, TX-- The Dallas Christian College men's basketball team dominated with an 86-52 victory against Southwestern Adventist University on Monday night on Jason Makayabo night. The Crusaders payed homage to the former Crusader who passed away in April of 2022. AD Gregg Mucerino presented the family with flowers and shared a moment of silence to honor the memory of Jason Makayabo.

The Crusaders played tough defense in the first half, which propelled them to a 32-24 lead at halftime. The Crusaders carried this momentum into the second half exploding for 54 points in the second half. DCC held SWAU to 52 points which is the least amount of points the Crusaders have given up all season. 

DCC had a balanced offensive attack with 4 players in double-digits. Yuot Gai had 13 points and 6 rebounds on 5-6 shooting from the field and 2-2 from the free-throw line. Blake Walker had 12 points and 4 assists on 5-7 shooting from the field. Ny'gel Boozer had 10 points and 8 rebounds on 3-11 shooting from the field. DJ Smith was a huge lift off the bench with 13 points on 5-6 shooting from the field. 

DCC shot 32-67 (47%) from the field, 16-34 (47%) from the three-point line, and 6-9 (67%) from the free-throw line. The Crusaders scored 8 second chance points, 26 points in the paint, 14 points off turnovers, and 40 points off the bench. The Crusaders had 43 rebounds, 25 assists, and 86 points. DCC will head into the break on a positive note and will be back in action on December 30th on the road against Arkansas Fort Smith.
