ARLINGTON, Texas – The Dallas Christian College volleyball team stumbled at Arlington Baptist University on Tuesday night, falling 3-1. DCC moved to 5-4 overall after being named fourth in the National Christian Collegiate Athletic Association (NCCAA) Division II Power Rankings earlier that day.
The Patriots improved to 7-6 overall and had checked in eighth in the poll. This was a rematch from the 2020 Southwest Regional, which had the Crusaders prevail for the title.
DCC posted the following set scores: 19-25, 11-25, 25-17, 19-25. After falling in the first two sets, the Crusaders eclipsed double-digits in kills for the only set of the night with 11 to avoid a clean sweep.
Cameron Del Angel led the Crusaders with 10 kills, while
Christen Downey chipped in nine.
Hannah Gallegos and
Kelly Graves shared the setter duties and posted 10 and nine assists, respectively.
The Crusaders held a 44-42 edge in digs, led by
Caitlyn Yablon with 14 and
Raezellejace Leano with 10.
Jayde Sickels and Abby Wilson did most of the damage on offense with 19 and 16 kills, respectively. Lydia Schmelzer and Clara Tunnell each had four block assists. Tunnel notched five blocks with a solo block included.
