DALLAS – The Dallas Christian College men's soccer team opened the 2021 season on Tuesday vs. NAIA Central Christian College. Despite a 3-0 result, the Crusaders trailed only by one through over 63 minutes in the match.
DCC (0-1) was limited to one substitute all match and continued to battle on a hot Texas afternoon to keep the score within reach and even had equalizer opportunities.
Central Christian got on the board at 18:37 with Edoardo Salmaso finishing a goal off a right corner kick by Lucas Chirife. Drew Schrader put the match away in the 64
th and 69
th minutes.
The Crusaders withstood a 24-8 advantage on shots and 16-2 of shots on goal.
Luis Lopez played the last 63:03 minutes and collected 10 saves, which included eight in the second half.
Shane Anderson paced the offense with three shots and one on goal.
Ivan Najar landed the other shot on frame for the home team in this match.
Dallas Christian remains home on Friday against Manhattan Christian. Kickoff is slated for 1 p.m.
