On Thursday evening and Friday morning, members of the Dallas Christian College coaching staff attended a Christian College Conference that featured guest speaker John Zeller. Zeller is a member of Score International Ministries, and has been a member on the Board of Directors for over 30 years. Since 2011, Zeller has served as the Executive Director and travels all over America, speaking at churches, sporting events, and conferences.
Additionally, Zeller is the chaplain for the Tampa Yankees. He has impacted the lives of many athletes through sports outreach. Other experience for Thursday's guest includes: Recreational Outreach at Idlewild Baptist Church in Tampa, Athletic Director at Temle Heights Christian School and Northside Christian Academy. He has also been a baseball head coach at Tennessee Temple University and The Master's College. Zeller also led baseball and soccer at Northside Christian Academy. He touched on discipleship and how to relate coaching to being a leader and role model for walking with Christ to student-athletes.
Joining Zeller on Friday was former University of Kentucky Baseball Head Coach Keith Madison, who was virtual. Madison discussed key points in coaching with excellence. Madison coached at the NCAA Division I program for 25 years. He joined Score International after retiring following the 2003 season. He has spoken to thousands of coaches and players in 15 states and Dominican Republic. Madison is an FCA and ABCA organization leader. While at Kentucky, Madison garnered 737 wins and is a member of three hall of fames: Kentucky H.S. Baseball, UK HOF, and American Baseball Coaches Association HOF. In 2013, he was the Lefty Gomez Award Recipient for Lifetime Contributions to amateur baseball.
Special thanks to DCC Athletics Director,
Gregg Mucerino, on organizing this event to uplift and prepare the coaching staff for a new year.
