DCC Volleyball Celebrates Five Seniors

DALLAS, Texas – The Dallas Christian College volleyball team celebrated five players on "Senior Day" and were able to defeat Texas Christian College in three sets on Saturday. Forming this quintet were Caitlyn Yablon, Elizabeth Morrow, Lauren Baker, Cameron Del Angel, and Keeley Price.
 
DCC prevailed 25-5, 25-5, and 25-8 in the sets and totaled 33 kills with a .403 hitting percentage. The Crusaders totaled 47 points compared to 11 by Texas Christian College. Lauren Baker headlined the offense with 12 kills with one error and 30 attempts for a .367 kill percentage. Christen Downey and Morrow each chipped in five kills, while Maya Harrington and Price added three apiece. Taylor Larsen and McKenna Ramsey got a pair of kills in the last set for their lone action of the day.
 
Hannah Gallegos (11), Kelly Graves (10), and Taylor Gary (7) combined for 30 assists, as the trio rotated in the final two sets. Yablon garnered half of the team's 44 digs with 22. DCC had a strong unit serving, as Gallegos, Yablon, Graves, Raezellejace Leano, and Gary contributed to the team's nine total. That was one more than yesterday's total against Brookhaven College.
 
The Crusaders won for the third time this week, going 9-1 in sets. This included back-to-back home victories to bring their record at the friendly confines to 6-2. The Crusaders are also 6-2 in October and improved to 12-7 overall. 
 
Dallas Christian is at Paul Quinn College on Tuesday at 6 p.m. and will play what is scheduled to be the remaining four matches of the regular season away until hosting the NCCAA Southwest Regional in November.

#8 Caitlyn Yablon
The 5'6" libero out of Garland, Texas, has appeared in 130 sets over two seasons for DCC. In 2020, Caitlyn was the national leader in digs with 461, comes into today in second with 330. Caitlyn tallied a season-high 30 digs against Manhattan Christian College on September 11 in a neutral site game held at Ozark Christian College. Caitlyn also has 32 service aces and 81 assists in her career.
 
Caitlyn claimed NCCAA Volleyball Division II All-American Second Team in 2020. That same campaign, Caitlyn was one-of-two players being honored today to be named to the 2020 NCCAA Scholar-Athletes Team and First Team All-Region in the Southwest. Caitlyn was honored at the end of the year banquet in 2020 by being awarded Female Athlete of the Year.
 
Caitlyn's favorite verse is Jeremiah 29:11 "For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future."
 
Caitlyn is majoring in interdisciplinary studies and plans to coach volleyball after I graduate.
 
#9 Elizabeth Morrow
 
The 5'5" outside hitter from Huntsville, Texas has played in four seasons with DCC. She has appeared in exactly 255 sets, while tallying a cumulative 415 kills, 313 digs, 326 assists, 51 blocks, and 57 service aces. In 2020, she posted a personal-best 154 kills, which was second-most on the team and just six behind the leader who is also being honored today. Most of her assists came as a setter in 2019 with 255 which was a team-high. Her personal-best in kills this season has been 13 kills at home versus Randall University.
 
Elizabeth was named to the NCCAA Volleyball Division II All-Tournament Team in 2020, which resulted in DCC being runners-up on the campaign.
 
Elizabeth's favorite Bible Verse is Hebrews 13:2 "Do not forget to show hospitality to strangers, for by so doing some people have shown hospitality to angels without knowing it."
 
Elizabeth is majoring in Business Administration and Ethics. She plans to pursue a job in Human Resources and eventually attend law school for a degree in family law.
 
#10 Lauren Baker
 
The 5'10" outside hitter from Arlington, Texas, has appeared in 265 career sets including 62 this season. Lauren has played four seasons with the Crusaders and this fall has been the team-leader in total kills with 195 and has averaged 3.15 kills per set; which is also tops on the team. Lauren ranks fourth in the NCCAA in number of kills and fifth in hitting percentage at a .249 clip. Lauren has reached 660 career kills after breaking double-digits in a match for the 10th time this fall season with 15 on Friday. Lauren also has achieved exactly 400 digs, 53 blocks, 52 assists, and 48 service aces. Lauren has earned NCCAA All-Region First Team in 2020 and Second Team in 2019. She was named a 2020 Scholar-Athlete by the National Office as well.
 
Lauren's favorite bible verse is Matthew 5:44 "But I tell you, lover your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who have you, and pray for those who mistreat you and persecute you."
 
Lauren is majoring in Education and plans on teaching high school and coaching when she graduates.
 
#11 Cameron Del Angel
 
The 5'8" outside hitter out of Harlingen, Texas played two seasons with DCC and appeared in 109 sets. Cameron has collected 166 kills, which is the fourth most combined on the current team. Her 92 this season also come in that place on the team, which includes a season-high 10 kills at home against Randall University on September 18. Cameron has also posted 111 digs, 14 blocks, and seven service aces.
 
Cameron's favorite Bible Verse is Psalm 34:18 The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.
 
Cameron is majoring in Psychology.
#13 Keeley Price
 
The 5'9" outside hitter from Hillsboro, Oregon, has been part of the DCC program for all four seasons. Keeley came into today having played 170 sets, which she has logged 98 kills, 19 blocks, and 58 digs. Her 31 kills this season are one off from matching a personal-most in a season. Keeley had five kills as a reserve to lead to her highest output and help lift the Crusaders over ABU in five sets on October 5.
 
Keeley was selected for the Faith in Action Award as a representative for volleyball in 2020. This honor was for a student-athlete who exhibits his/her personal faith and relationship with our lord and Savior with selfless attitude.
 
Keeley says her favorite bible verse is Exodus 14:14 "the Lord will fight for you, you need only to be still."
 
Keeley is majoring in Psychology with a track of Human Rights and she plans to go to UT-Arlington to earn a Masters in Social Work.
