Dallas Christian College fell at Randall University in three sets on Saturday, October 2. The Crusaders were short in the two sets to start with 25-19 scores. The third set was a game of runs with six lead changes and 13 ties.
DCC led by the biggest margin by either team in the game with four points thanks to a couple early surges, but would find itself trailing 25-24. An attack error continued the set and Elizabeth Morrow pushed the Crusaders in front 26-25 with a kill. Team's traded points before consecutive bad sets gave Southwestern the chance to win again. A kill by Summer Doty held off the game, but Mindy Stewart and Andi Fudge completed the sweep with back-to-back points.
Both teams eclipsed double-digits for kills in all sets, but the home Saints etched a 48-34 edge including 17 in the first set. Randall's Teagan Hamilton carried the offense with 17 kills and posted 13 digs for a double-double. Lauren Hogan had a double-double with 17 assists and 10 digs. Mikayla Stewart matched a game-high 18 assists.
The Crusaders were led offensively by Morrow and Baker with seven kills each. Christen Downey chipped in six kills. Hannah Gallegos picked up 18 assists for a team-high. Caitlyn Yablon and Morrow led the defense with 11 digs each, as seven Crusaders had at least four.
The guests were edged by three (52-49) in that column, but most of the Saints digs came from a trio of Priscilla Crowell, Hamilton, and Hogan.
Dallas Christian's record dropped to 5-4 overall, while Randall improved to .500 with a 5-5 record.
Dallas Christian is home against University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma Athletics on Saturday, October 10.
