DALLAS, TX-- The Dallas Christian College women's soccer team hosted Eastfield College in their home opener on Thursday evening. The Lady Crusaders notched their first win of the season behind goals from
Cameron Hutton and
Vivian Hernandez.
In the third minute of the game
Vivian Hernandez blew by the defense and was fouled inside the penalty box.
Cameron Hutton took the penalty kick and capitalized on the opportunity by lacing a shot into the back of the net to give the Lady Crusaders a 2-1 lead.
Vivian Hernandez scored a goal on a tremendous pass from
Emily Ruiz to extend the lead to 2-0.
In the second half, Eastfield capitalized late with a goal on a free kick.
Victoria Galvan recorded 9 saves on 25 shots faced. DCC was able to dominate the attacking third with 28 shots total and 22 shots on goal.
Cameron Hutton scored her third goal of the season and had 12 shots total and 7 shots on goal.
Vivian Hernandez netted her first goal of the season and had 5 shots on goal.
Chloe Anderson had 7 shots on goal.
The Lady Crusaders were solid on defense in the back end. The offensive attacks opened up lanes to exploit for the front 3. The defense was able to control the pace and create a rhythm that played in favor of DCC. The Lady Crusaders move to 1-1 on the season and have scored 5 goals in 2 games. They will face Austin College on Monday at 6 PM.
