DALLAS, Texas – Dallas Christian College women's soccer tied Hesston College, 1-1, on Saturday afternoon. The Crusaders scored their first goal of the season, but would be penalized for a foul inside the box later in the opening half. Jasmin Ventura netted the penalty kick to knot the score and things would remain the same until the final horn. Overtime would not be played.
Rachelle Chaves was responsible for tallying the first goal of her collegiate career and the first season since Head Coach
Eric Smith took over the program. Chaves struck a shot off the right post and then was able to finish on the second opportunity in the 21
st minute.

DCC held a 20-5 advantage in shot attempts and had half of its attempts on goal.

The Larks (0-5-1) had Katie Robeck in the goal, and she protected the tie with nine saves.

The Crusaders (0-1-1) earned a penalty kick of their own in the second half, but the shot was wide to the left. That was with just over 10 minutes left in regulation. DCC's
Alexis Velazquez would take three more DCC shots from that juncture that had two saved. Hesston's Socorro Stephens had one attempt late in under a minute to potentially win things, but
Arabella Williams made the save. She had three for the game.

Chaves totaled a game-high six shots, while Velazquez notched four.
Liberty Holmes contributed three shots, all on target and took the majority of the team's eight corner kicks.

Dallas Christian hits the road for two matches over the next week. Changes have been made to the schedule today based on the latest updates. On Thursday, September 16, DCC is at Paul Quinn College at 5:30 p.m. On Saturday, September 18, DCC will be at Jarvis Christian College at 5 p.m.
